Consider the Kingdom

Ok Mama. Here we go. Here we go into the wild unknown. Into the crazy of this self-determined quarantine that feels confusing and catastrophic.
God has prepared us individually for the crazy today and the wild tomorrows.

He has fully chosen you to be the mother to your children. The educator of their impressionable brains and flourisher of their growing faith. He knew before the beginning of the creation of this diseased world that  this season would come. He knew the fear that would creep into our homes through news broadcasts and cancellations. He knew the virus that would begin this chaos. He saw the school closures and job losses and the unforeseen before it was foreseeable to our human eyes. He has not left his throne. He has not forsaken us in the middle of the chaos. He has not chosen another parent to govern your home or lay the groundwork of faith and academics. He chose you. He formed your children with your heritage and breathed knowledge and wisdom into your soul so that you may speak life over, into and around the children that He has entrusted into your care.

Just in case you’re like me? In the event that you found yourself at the kitchen table this morning surrounded by paperwork and computer programs and bickering, confused and frustrated children? Be reminded that you are not alone. That mothers every where around the country and world are asking themselves “Am I capable? Can I possibly do this for my children? Am I enough mother, wife, teacher, cook, nurturer for these kids?”

The answer is yes, dear Mother. He has chosen you. He has equipped you. He has allowed this chaos to come to pass. You are equipped and prepared by the very fibers woven into your mothering bones. Hey Mama? He’s sitting at the table with you in the stress of the schoolwork and the new normal that we are each trying to get a handle on. He’s pouring out the patience you pray for as you pick up the pieces of the broken structure surrounding us. The beauty of it all? He’s right here walking each of us through, holding our hands as we tend to their hearts. Teaching us to become like the little children we shepherd as we teach our little sheep.

Perhaps our children will grow seeds of faith in this season. Consider the joy that may grow with the pruning within the walls of our very homes. What fruits might be born out of such trials if we fix our eyes on the eternal kingdom that is at our very hands.

….And So my sister, be encouraged. straighten the crown He has fixed upon your head and engage in the position and tasks that have been assigned to you in this mission field of life. He has chosen you. Deep breath. You are ready, mama…”For such a time as this”

Esther 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

“Your greatest contribution to the Kingdom of God might not be what you do but who you raise.” (Andy Stanley)
